Green Buildings in Singapore

Michelle Tan 1504310B

An example of a Green Buildings in Singapore is 311@Somerset. It was awarded the Green Mark Platinum in 2013 for being an environment-friendly building in Singapore.  To be part of an environment-friendly building, it had green features such as Green Lease and Tenancy collaboration. Tenant’s provisions are specified in the Green Lease and there is a control on the energy usage. Likewise, the building have a carbon offsetting car-park. This implies that a small portion of the car-parking fees will be used to fund solar panels to be built on the development. The intention is to offset the carbon of the vehicles getting to the mall. Also, solar panels are able to harness the sun’s energy to power up car-park lighting and barrier system. Thus, it reduces the energy usage in the shopping mall.
