City Square Mall is Singapore’s first eco-mall to be integrated with an urban park named City Green which is designed to provide a learning experience about ecology and the natural environment. It is also the first mall in Singapore awarded the prestigious Green Mark Platinum Award by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA). The eco-mall has many green features such as designated parking spaces for hybrid vehicles and uses high-efficiency air conditioners that produce less electricity, preventing the emission of more than 4,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide annually. The condensate water from the air-conditioning system is recycled, thus saving water enough to fill 2 Olympic-sized pools yearly. There are also driveway sensors to adjust the lighting of the car park at Level B4 that saves about 50,000 kWh of electricity a year.
