One example of a green building in Singapore that was awarded the 'Green Mark Platinum' is Marina Barrage. The Barrage have 3 main purposes: It creates a freshwater lake to boost Singapore water supply, acts as a tidal barrier to prevent flooding in low-lying city areas and keeps the water level consistent, offering a venue for water-based activities in the heart of the city. Some of the Green features they have are double-glazed glass panels used to reduce heat penetration and the need of using air conditioning. Next, they have water efficient fixtures such as taps and water-less urinals to manage water consumption effectively. Lastly, rocks and stones that was collected during the construction stage were reused as building materials to cut down on carbon footprints. The above examples of the green features helps to save the earth in many ways, not only by saving resources in Singapore.
