Green Building in Singapore: Marina Barrage
Opened to public on 1 November 2008, is one of the many green buildings in Singapore. It provides water supply and flood control to the Singapore River. Not only that, it has several green features. One of the notable ones is the fact that it has a double-glazed glass panels in the pumping station to reduce heat penetration and the need for air-conditioning. This saves about 1,102 MwH per year. Another feature is that the 70 kW peak DC Solar Park houses Singapore's largest collection of solar panels in operation. There are also water-efficient fixtures such as taps and waterless urinals to manage the water consumption more effectively.
