Green buildings in Singapore

Asher Gunendren(1504403E)

Marina bay sands has just received the Green Mark Gold Award from Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority (BCA). It was granted such a prestigious award as it demonstrated a combination of energy and water efficiency, indoor environmental quality, environmental protection and green innovation. The hotel utilizes recycled products under Singapore’s Green Labelling Scheme whenever possible, such as drainage cells, timber decking, drywall partitions and fire-rated doors so as to maintain its green ideas. To conserve water, the hotels own Art Science Museum is able to collect rainwater for use in the building’s toilets and for irrigation it has more than 60,000 control points located across the building, to control the heating, lighting, air conditioning as well as water supplies. What’s more, it uses chilled water from an innovative water-cooled chiller system as a source of air conditioning. Marina Bay Sands also lends support to dozens of eco-friendly initiatives in Singapore.
